Preventing Drift through Continued Co-Design with a First Nations Community: Refining the Prototype of a Tiered FASD Assessment

This study used a two-day workshop presenting a prototype of a culturally safe, tiered neurodevelopmental assessment that can identify FASD in primary healthcare, as part of the Yapatjarrathati project, to emphasise the benefit of continued co-design to ensure health implementation strategies match the needs of First Nations community.

Effectiveness of practice change intervention in reducing alcohol consumption in pregnant women attending public maternity services

Altered bone and body composition in children and adolescents with confirmed prenatal alcohol exposure

As the effect of prenatal alcohol exposure on skeletal growth is relatively unexplored in a clinical population, this study examines bone, fat, and muscle accrual in children and adolescents diagnosed with, or at risk of, FASDs. Overall, adolescents diagnosed with FASDs had greater odds of impairments to bone and body composition.

The Alcohol Industry and Social Responsibility: Links to FASD

The beverage alcohol industry is often seen as playing a role in FASD prevention strategies such as health warning labels. The study considers many factors such as the place of alcohol in society and the prevalence, social and economic costs of FASD, to explore the nature of the relationship between the industry and prevention programming.
