Fetal alcohol syndrome: a prospective national surveillance study

This study aimed to describe the causes and effects of fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) as observed by Australian paediatricians. The findings highlight the severity, complexity and impact of FAS, and the need for effective strategies for prevention. The authors conclude that early diagnosis, referral and reporting of cases is needed.
